This was literally one of the best experiences I’ve ever
had!!!
Two days, 8 awesome people, jungle trekking, 20 ziplines
through extensive forest in one of the world’s most stunning National Parks…and
a night in a flipping incredible jungle treehouse….that just about sums it up,
but in no way does it justice. Neither do these pictures, but it gives you a
taste of what we’ve just experienced.

Inside the treehouse
Probably the happiest cat ever
Watching the sun go down...Not too shabby...
The tallest tree in Laos!
Giving the tallest tree some love (this one's for you Janet!)
Leyton on the zipline into the treehouse
Not a bad place to spend a penny!
Trecking in the jungle
The interesting bit…
Not only do you get a quite frankly awesome experience, but
this project is also doing wonderful things for the local community and the
forest which serves it. Set up by a French guy (who we happened to catch a glimpse
of in the office and who is disgustingly young for someone so successful!), the
project makes a point of only employing local people, and provides fulltime
employment for 120 locals (and no foreigners!). Their mission is to combat
illegal logging, commercial cropping, poaching and excessive slash-and-burn
practices. They now run their own reforestation projects, employ forest rangers
to protect against poaching, and educate their visitors about the need to
protect the rainforest and the importance of engaging and employing the local
community in order to achieve this. If you’re ever headed to Laos, look these
guys up. And if you’re not here’s some interesting reading anyway…http://www.gibbonexperience.org/
