Melbourne Part Deux!

We’re back! And it’s awesome!! We’ve actually been back for over a week, but we’ve been so busy having a lovely time, I haven’t had a chance to catch up, so here goes…

We arrived on Friday and Ad had the kids for the weekend, so we had fun with them. They’re so full of energy are such happy little people! On Saturday it was ANZAC Day (a little like Remembrance Day in the  UK, but with biscuits) and Liberty and Angus wanted to watch the parade so we went into Flinders Street and watched the procession. It’s all very pompy and everyone takes it very seriously. We also seem to have brought the rain with us from the Daintree, but it’s so lovely and cold and Autumnal here that it made us think of home, which was actually quite nice!

On Sunday it was the lovely Bella’s birthday, so we had a wonderful day with her family who all came over for a surprise lunch. Adam put on an incredible spread, and Bella’s mum and dad brought The World’s Largest Cake. We were enjoying ourselves so much that this turned into dinner and we more-or-less ate continuously for about 6 hours!

We’ve enjoyed getting to know the City a bit-so many lovely cafes and gorgeous little neighbourhoods to visit. We cycled along the river to the Botanical Gardens (by now the sun was shining and it was absolutely heavenly!) which are stunning, and Bella and Adam took us to Victoria Market which is a huge food market selling almost any food you can think of at super cheap prices.

On Friday we took our gorgeous little niece Marly swimming with her mum Aly. This little lady is an absolute gem! She is such an incredible little two year old with the widest array of expressions you can imagine, and she is incredibly friendly and inquisitive for such a little person! She’s such a happy and chatty little girl and she’s great fun to be around, and always keeps you on your toes (we were having so much fun hanging out that we were like prunes by the time we got out of the pool!).

Last night we went for dinner at B and A’s friends Carly and Andre’s house. We had a fab evening with all of their friends and played a rather hilarious game of Cards Against Humanity….I would share some of the scenarios, but I wouldn’t want to incriminate anyone!...
